How to Photograph Your Pokémon Cards for Evaluation

To get the most accurate evaluation on pokegrade.org, please follow these simple photo guidelines:

What to Capture

Upload clear, well-lit images of:

  1. Front of the card
  2. Back of the card
  3. Close-ups of all 4 corners and edges
  4. Any damage or imperfections (scratches, whitening, creases)
  5. Holo area, if applicable

Photo Tips

  • Use a flat, neutral background (white or gray works best)
  • Shoot top-down, with the card centered and straight
  • Avoid glare – use natural light or soft indoor lighting (no flash)
  • Focus carefully – text and details must be sharp
  • No filters or edits – show the card exactly as it is

For Best Accuracy

If you want the most accurate condition grading, we recommend using a card scanner or flatbed scanner at 300–600 DPI.

File Guidelines

  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Resolution: 1080p or higher
  • Clear filenames (e.g. Charizard_Front.jpg)
  • No sleeves or top loaders
